COMMUNITY
For Black Girl Gamers, community is key. Since inception, we have aimed to keep our members safe and connected, whilst also offering educational opportunities to demystify career paths in gaming. We house a global community of 10,000+ Black Women/non-binary and femme identifying people (age and LGBTQIA+ inclusive) and nurture their interests for Gaming, TV/Film, Anime, Fashion/Beauty, and more via internal events, workshops and mentorship programmes. Past partners: Meta, Unity, Build Box
PREVIOUS WORK
META
We teamed up with Meta to create a 3-month mentorship programme with Leaders from Meta to mentor Black Girl Gamers community members. The mentees and mentors structured their sessions according to the mentee's needs, empowering them in skills such as project management, interview skills, market understanding and more. 98% of the mentees had a positive experience during the mentorship.
ADIDAS
We conducted a workshop with Adidas Originals on how to brand yourself with originality in the gaming industry. The workshop took place in an Adidas Store in London discussing building your originality in your brand voice, starting branding yourself using accessible tools and what to do when in the room with a brand as a content creator.
UNITY
In partnership with Unity, we hosted a workshop for our community focusing on game development using Unity's Real Time 3D platform in order to control objects in 3d and 2d space. Our members learned how to build a 2D Microgame and the Karting Microgame within Unity. 87% of attendees found the workshop useful and 91% of them would recommend it to other members.
