Overwatch Viewership Dips

The Overwatch League is on Stage 4 and viewership is declining.

Day 2 of Stage 4 has the least amount of views with an average of 63,000. Stage 3 wasn’t super entertaining but did pick up during the playoffs with 133,000 views. Stage 4 starts with 113,000 views through Twitch, a 15.2% drop from Stage 3. There isn’t a certain answer for why viewership declined however it started with New York Excelsior dominating the other teams.

Esports at Tokyo Game Show

The visual theme for this year is esports, for the Tokyo Game Show. The Tokyo Game Show is a huge expo filled with different games whether from Indie devs or big game companies, exhibitors. This is Smartphone Game Area which focuses on games for smart devices and social games for portable devices. Indie Game Area is where games for every platform are on display to help generate new trends in the computer entertainment industry. Esports Area is for esports gaming, game devices, hardware and other related products. VR/AR Area is for VR games, hardware and other services. Game School Area is for professionals schools and universities to gather together and be inspired for future creators.

2014’s theme involved Sony sponsoring the Indie Game Area. This meant the developers didn’t have to pay for a booth.
